- Are Pain Management techniques and interventions aimed at healing me or do these techniques just stop my pain temporarily?
Pain management techniques and interventions are aimed at healing the root cause of pain. Although results vary from patient to patient, studies have indicated that 70-80% patients have experienced complete and permanent relief from pain.
- Will my pain re-occur some time after the intervention/injection? WIll I need repeat injections after a few months?
In most cases, interventions/injections are able to relieve pain completely. Depending on the age and condition of the patient and the body’s ability to repair itself, results can vary from person to person. In about 15-20% patients, re-injections after 9 to 12 months may be required.
- What kinds of injections/medicines do you use in these interventions?
We use highly specialized injections with highest degree of safety and precision. Most commonly, a combination of neuropathic agents and safe pain killers are used in these interventions.
- Do you use steroids/pain killers in these injections?
Yes, steroids and safe pain killers may be used in combination with various others agents. The manner in which these agents are used is safe and scientifically proven in numerous studies. A number of interventional techniques like Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy and ozone discectomy donot use any steroids/pain killers.
- Are there any side effects of these injections?
No there are no side effects of these injections in the short term as well as long term. Unlike surgery, which typically carries considerable amount of risk and side effects, These injections are absolutely safe for all age groups and patients with most types of medical illnesses.
- I’m currently undergoing physiotherapy? Should I wait for results for go for an intervention?
Physiotherapy modalities are mostly restricted to provide symptomatic short term relief as well as for rehabilitation. Hence, they are unable to provide definite treatment for most painful conditions. It is most advisable to consult a pain specialist and depending on his recommendation, go forward or wait for an intervention.
